How to Apply For a Position On The Technical Advisory Panel (TAP)

  1. Submit a resume that lists qualifications appropriate for the area for which the applicant is applying; for example, medical, legal, or toxicological expertise. If applying for a regional coordinator’s position, you must live in a state that is part of the geographical region.

  2. Submit the resume, along with endorsements from the administrator of your place of employment, to your DRE state coordinator. The endorsement must acknowledge and support the following expectations for members of TAP:

    • Attendance at TAP meetings at least twice a year;
    • Attendance at regional meetings (mandatory for the regional coordinators’ positions) and/or the IACP’s Annual DRE Training Conference; and
    • Completing assignments delegated by the TAP Chair in a timely fashion and providing a status report to TAP at subsequent meetings.
  3. After the above documents have been completed and reviewed by the state coordinator, they must be endorsed by the state office of highway safety and forwarded to the DEC Program Manager at the following address:
